Imagine walking along the ancient walls of the Palace of Mycenae and realizing that in the age-old architecture the natural shapes of the stones seem to fit together spontaneously, with no shaping by human hands. An embrace is behind the structure and strength, rather than the geometric wishes of the designer.
This gave Paolo Grasselli his cue when he designed Kamari, a selection of sofas in which rationality and ergonomics come together naturally in the softness of upholstered fu
iture. The sculpturesque forms in the Kamari collection were developed in a seemingly simple process that conceals skilful shaping of upholstery and astute handling of technical matters. The seat is clasped by an organic form that looks like it was hewn by the elements and feels like it has found its natural home.
